What is online analytics?
In line with the current thinking of the FDA, online analytics is ultimately an efficient way to manufacture biopharmaceutical drugs safely and consistently. An online analytics system uses Historian data (collected data) and scientifically sound models to make adjustments to a manufacturing process "run" in real time.
Because the adjustments are made based on the most current and accurate data available at the given time, the chances are greater for improving the quality of a cell culture product, or at least leading the given culturing process in the right direction.
The experts at Roche Innovatis AG have a broad understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and its regulations, and, working with you, bring together the hardware, software and intellectual property necessary to deploy fully automated cell culture analysis in a process environment.

High-Resolution Digital Imaging with Cedex HiRes from Roche Innovatis
Roche Innovatis has launched Cedex HiRes, the newest generation of image-based Cedex Cell Counter and Analyzer systems for automated cell culture analysis. Cedex HiRes measures cell density, viability, aggregation rate, cell morphology, and cell debris using the Trypan Blue exclusion method, with high-resolution digital image recognition. The exceptional image quality allows deeper insights into even the subtlest changes in a cell culture, such as monitoring baculovirus transfections for protein production via measurement of cell diameter changes. Designed to work in a production environment while strictly adhering to quality guidelines, Cedex HiRes uses software with extensive capabilities for data management and control to ensure compliance with all current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) regulations.
New instrument features account for reduced operator time and increased analytical accuracy. Up to 20 individual samples of 300 µl each are handled by the multi-sampler. Cell staining and mixing tasks are fully automated, as are focus adjustments. Cedex HiRes produces images with pixel resolution of 0.8 µm, enabling the distinction of objects with a distance of less than 2 µm to each other. Detectable cell diameter range is 2 µm - 40 µm, and object diameter range of 1 µm - 90 µm. Digital image recognition allows for permanent storage of acquired data.
Developed in close collaboration with customers, the Cedex HiRes features Cedex 2 Software that simplifies the visualization, transfer and storage of the most elaborate data sets for true automation in cGMP regulated environments. Through its Systems Suitability Test (SST), Roche Innovatis provides consumables and maintenance protocols that allow users to routinely verify and document system quality and ensure measurement performance.

Shorter measurement times with the new Cedex 2.1.2 Software
Since its introduction in the last quarter of 2007, the new software version 2.1.1 for the Cedex and Cedex HiRes systems has generated a very positive response from our customers.
However, the new software has been technically refined and optimized. As an important result the latest version 2.1.2.offers … a significant reduction in measurement time !
In the case of a standard Cedex system with an MS20 multisampler, for example, each sample can be analysed in only 2:42 minutes. So a time saving of 30 to 90 seconds per sample can be achieved.
The importance of the reduction in measurement time in the event of a maximum workload
of 20 samples is obvious: the time needed can be reduced by 30 minutes!
Similar reductions in measurement times can also be achieved with the Cedex HiRes system.
Important Note:
Innovatis is offering a free update to all interested Cedex software 2.1.1 users!
Please contact your local service and support team to set up an appointment

Cedex Gets a ”New Look”
We would like to advise you in advance that it will not be long before the instrument enclosure of the Cedex will change. The reason for this is obvious!
Due to the expansion strategy of our company and the consequent variety of products, clear brand management becomes the crucial identity feature in order to be recognized in the market. This is reflected not only in the company brand but also in the product design.
For this reason all systems produced by innovatis AG will be supplied with white instrument enclosures in the future.
The color change of the instrument enclosure becomes even more important regarding the Cedex product as this change is in conjunction with the system upgrade to the latest Cedex 2 technology. This makes it easy for us, the manufacturer, as well as for the users to quickly distinguish between old and new instruments.

The new Cedex 2 Software - Extended system features and new application alternatives!
This new version of the software is the result of a development project of innovatis AG in collaboration with prominent users within the pharmaceutical- and biotech sector. Compared to the currently established Cedex software, this version represents an entirely new basic version.
On the one hand, a large number of user-related requirements have been included in this new version, while at the same time, providing the market with the opportunity to be used for further application requirements in the future– thus the new Cedex 2 software represents the new platform technology for future-oriented cell culture analysis!
From the end of May onwards all new Cedex HiRes Systems will be equipped with the Cedex 2 software by the manufacturer.
Innovatis AG provides extensive up-grade options for customers already with existing systems. The modular “licence-key-system” is allowing a well-balanced cost/performance ratio for individual customer requirements. In this way, it is also possible to purchase two modul versions - a basic and a full package.
The customer benefits not only from the advantages gained through the increased automation level for his product and the optimisation of the process reliability of his analytical method, but also from the advantage of a future-oriented design of the system configuration. At present, the new software is designed in such a way, that upgrades for additional application areas are possible later on.
Likewise, the new software is also available for Cedex, the established “gold standard“ in cell culture analysis. Innovatis experts naturally provide competent support in this area for all questions asked concerning cGMP-aspects. So the customer still remains “on the safe side” within his validated method.
